First Ever Personal Post! [Get To Know A Little More About Me, Updates And More]

I am so excited to be creating this post today! Hi guys!

A couple of months back when I first opened this website, I hadn't any intentions to make personal entries on here, moreover, I hadn't planned to reveal who I am but writing and blogging has always been an interest of mine and I couldn't help but want to create blog posts in which I talk about events going on in my personal life and share interests with my readers.

First off, let me start by answering some questions so that you get to know me better!

1- What is your name?

My name is Avela.

2- Do you have any nicknames?

Actually, I do. My nicknames are many! People usually call me Ava, Ave, Ela, Av, or Yun.

3- What are your hobbies?

I only have two; reading and writing. I do like doing other things but the things I enjoy engaging in are the two mentioned above.

4- Where are you from?

I am from an island in Europe called Malta. It's located in the Mediterranean Sea neighboring Italy and Sicily.

5- Do you play sports?

No (XD).

6- What city would you most like to live in?

My dream city to one day live in is Paris.

7- What is the most annoying question people ask you?

You're only 22? (This year....this year, too many people asked me this. And all I can say is I am tired of hearing it. What does it matter how old I am? Please, do not judge me based on my age, especially if you want to reference that to my interest in social sciences cause I am not too young for that either.)

8- What is the best book you've ever read?

Oh wow, this is a hard one. I think the book that would win the spot for me would be Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier. I first read this book in my early years of high school and have ever since, fallen in love with it. It's a book I get back to for the thrill of the story every few months. It's about a woman who marries a widowed man and begins to learn of his murky past and uncover dark secrets that may or may not be linked to murder.

9- What are you interested in that most people haven’t heard of?

This is SPECIFIC. Well, many don't know this about me, but I watch a lot of ASMR YouTube videos. ASMR stands for 'Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response' which basically is a bunch of performed triggers (both visually and sensory) which people watch and listen to to induce sleep and relaxation. I encourage people to actually look into it because it can be quite interesting.

10- Why did you decide to create a blog?

It's a long story. All I can in short is I remember the first time I picked up a book in my family home which read 'Sociology' on it and I look back on that time and see who I am now and notice that all throughout my childhood growing up I always had a rare love and bond with reading books and knowledge. I yearn to learn and I ask questions, but I ask not to get an answer, but to discuss. I'd rather come to discover whichever answers on my own but want to discuss and think out loud I guess. I wanted to create this blog to be able to do just that.

11- What makes a good life?

Living everyday and learning from life. People's lives revolve around interacting within their lives as they journey through their life cycle. Learn to be patient. Learn to be calm. What makes a good life is what you make of your life depending on how meaningful the little blessings of life are to you. Mountains can be climbed, bridges can be crossed and obstacles can be overcome.

12- If your childhood had a smell, what would it be?

The one most distinctive smell I remember from my childhood was the smell of new materials our parents bought us in the beginning of every school year.

13- In your group of friends, what role do you play?

This brings a smile to my face. I have so many stories about me and my best friends. Well, we were mainly four and I was always the very girly one. I had a pink Samsung phone, pink or lilac nail polish, sparkly mini dresses, various headbands and cute animal ears XD. As regards to traits, I was the spoiled one, I guess. But, overtime my very vain exterior became less and less prominent so I would say I have regulated that.

14- What is something that your friends would consider “so you”?

Talking back to people. It is not a bad behavior to speak the truth but it does depend on when you do so. I have to admit sometimes I can be a bit 'bitchy' about 'telling it like it is' or like how I see it which never results into a good conclusion.

15- If you had a personal flag, what would be on it?

^_^ This is such a cute question! It would probably be black with cute baby yellow bear paws on it. Don't ask me why (LMAO).

16- If your life was a book, what would its title be?

18/10/96: The Day The Earth Stood Still. (Mainly for my parents. I'm their daughter. They had to raise me and that was probably kind of scary XD.)

17- What is your personality type?

My personality type is [INTJ]. I am a rational strategist guys :P. Basically, I am an introvert that enjoys theories and big ideas, I make logical and objective decisions and organize myself according to a specific schedule.

18- What are you most insecure about?

Believe it or not guys, my looks. This is because I look very ordinary and people generally look past me rather than consider me -_-.

19- If you were put into solitary confinement for six months, what would you do to stay sane?

Read. I would Read. I consider books to be my companion. It lifts my spirit and mood.

20- If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?

Darcy or Darlene. I just freaking love these names!

What I've Been Up To

As many of you already know, my number one main interest in my academic studies is Sociology, however, this year I had been planning to taking a course at University that is split into two main scientific disciplines; Psychology and Sociology. Unfortunately, the Psychology Professor, for some reason, was not impressed with me but on the other hand, I am beyond excited because this year, I will be taking up Philosophy for the first time ever! Amidst this tango of subjects I am learning, I shall also be taking Psychology and Human Resources Management on the side. Earlier in the beginning of this month, I also received my driving permit and plan to get my driving licence in check and out of the way. The most recent updates are that I received a letter from the University of Malta saying that I have to do some writing or analytical exam (meh, more like test) to see how I do at writing a descriptive text based upon the main texts which will be presented in there. This cracks me up. Last year, my Sociology Professor kept repeating to me that copying everything exactly the way it is from our textbooks is 'not gonna work'. The truth is, I tried not to do that but whenever I wrote an essay in my own wording, I got less marks and that is the honest truth. Come to think of it, that wasn't the only issue she had with me. She also told me to stop theorizing in my own context because I am still a student and I am yet to learn more before I can actually begin to drop straight facts (yung savage). You guys probably guessed how much I voice my opinion and talk in class by now, nuff said. Anyways, let's hope this test goes smoothly, it's a very simple one so I am not really worried.

I would also like to let you all know that, over the past couple of months (nearly an exact year) I have been quite sick and many commented on my weight loss and extreme difference in appearance. My health is finally starting to be handled and I take regular medication according to my headaches. My stress levels reduced but are not gone (that's for sure :/) and my blood pressure has regulated and stabilized somewhat. I'd like to thank all who supported me and encouraged me through that difficult time, words cannot explain how much I am thankful and appreciative of you guys. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! As from now on, if this post does earn good feedback, I shall most certainly make more like it! I enjoy talking to you all!
